Valentine's Day..And All The Silly Survey's & Stats

Who actually reads all those sappy Valentine's Day stories and studies that take over the internet the week before February 14th? Sure some of the numbers are interesting but all the love me/ love me not crap in between is nauseating. So here are some of the more interesting stats for the single and taken gals and guys ( this way you don't have to read the unwanted love news or bachelor/ bachelorette stats...

For the Singles:

• 40% of people say going out with friends is the best break-up remedy (Bing survey)

• A surprising 1 in 10 people admit to having broken up with someone on Valentine’s Day. (Bing survey)

• SeekingArrangement.com, revealed that on average a man needs to shell out $218 to “get lucky” on Valentine’s Day. The study also revealed on average how much married, single, and committed men spend during this holiday: Single: $257: Dinner or Activity Married:$203: Presents, Committed a Relationship: $180:Presents

• Does a date’s height, debt and virginity really matter? 71% of women are not likely to date someone shorter than themselves; 42% of singles would not date a virgin (33% of men and 51% of women); and 65% of singles would not date someone with considerable credit card debt (>$5K). (Match.com survey)

• Connecting online ranks #1 amongst places where singles meet. nearly 1/3 of singles (27.5%) reported that they have dated someone whom they met online. In addition, 20% of singles met their most recent first date online vs. 7% who met at a bar. (Match.com survey)

• Six million people are planning or expecting a marriage proposal for Valentine's Day, up from 4 million in 2012. ( American Express Spending and Saving Tracker consumer report)

• Romantic love survives long-term. Over 80% of married men and women would marry the same person again, while 76% married men and 73% women are still very much in love with their current spouse:: 8-10 on a scale of 10 being “deeply in love”. ( Match.com)

• Nearly two-thirds of couples surveyed say a weekend getaway is more likely to spark romance in their relationship than a gift. (U.S. Travel Association)

• 28% of the couples say their sex life actually improved after traveling together. Of those couples, 40% say the improvement was permanent. (U.S. Travel Association)

Are You Ready For Some Football!?

Fantasy football that is.. I'm ready for the games to really begin, forget baseball or the Olympics ( no offense) but I am ready for my favorite Sunday Funday ritual.. Let me take my seat at the bar, order my favorite pint of beer and mound of cheesy nachos and prepare to be wildly excited and then depressed as I watch my favorite team ( The Vikings) lose yet another season.. but hey, at least I have my fantasy team to root for. But before we all get glued to our computers, mindlessly clicking away to decide who will be the best sleeper to pick up..remember, its just a game, so don't go overboard and forget about your sex and social life..

8% of fans admit to spending more than 10 hours a week preparing for fantasy football – the same percentage of fans who report that they have been dumped due to a fantasy football obsession.


Fantasy football over sex?

While 16% of respondents would give up sex for the entire season to win their fantasy league, more (19%) are willing to give up their mobile phone. The most respondents, 39%, would give up beer to win their league.


Gender bias?

43% of fans think we are more likely to see a woman become President of the United States than be in charge of a professional sports league as a commissioner, and 25% think neither is likely.



Play responsibly people!

People say they Love their iPhones more than Sex?!

Every time you look around you see someone with an iphone. Whether they're texting, talking, googling or playing numerous dumb games, you can't escape Americas love for iPhones-( I even walked by a homeless guy the other day and I swear he was on one too). I personally don't own an iphone ( I started with a driod), but it seems people are taking their love for the shiny electronic a bit too far.

According to a survey released by Gazelle.com, a high-end consumer electronic trade-in website, 65% of iphoners can't live without their precious device. In the techno-crazed era we live in, this statistic didn't surprise me, what surprised me was that nearly 15% of respondents said they'd rather give up sex than go a weekend without their iPhone.

Perhaps I shouldn't be so surprised by that since more than 25% said they "almost always" use their iPhones in social settings like during dinner or at a party- No wonder why iPhoners aren't getting lucky they're too busy doting over their phones!

The survey goes on to say that 4% of respondents said they've even used their iPhones while having sex. (This part of the report I am still skeptical on- how is that even possible.. either your unbelievably desperate and don't mind your partner texting while your doing the deed or.. or I don't know, maybe the tech obsessive iphoners are paring up and texting each other during sex... i.e  "that's the spot :)"... "say my name : p".

The iPhone turns 5 on June 29th.. If this is how much our society is addicted to the flashy apple symbol now, what can we expect to happen in the next 5 years?
