Instead, I'll share my latest thoughts on a new trendy therapy that all the hipsters and professionals who can afford it are trying.. it's called floating...</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I covered the story for a FoxNews.com piece I was producing for our Health section so I decided I should at least try it if I was going to write about it. Floating is exactly what it sounds like.. it's floating-- only naked for one hour in a water tank filled with body temperature water and a thousand pounds of Epsom salt. It's said to deprive you of all your senses in order to ease stress and aches.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Lift Floats in Brooklyn had two different types of pods for me to try... one was an egg-shaped capsule that looked way too claustrophobic for me... and the other was a more stylish suite with an extra large hot tub looking tank under a pretty sparkling ceiling made to look like twinkling stars..Oh yeah, and did I mention that they charge you $99 an hour to float in these things?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Now I do practice yoga about three times a week, so I have tried to "meditate" before, but honestly I never seem to be able to. I have way too many thoughts and to-do lists constantly running through my head for it to ever work. But floating, I was told, is supposed to have some magical power over your mind to quiet it instantly...So after my shoot I undressed and lowered myself into the luke warm water. I popped ear plugs in, turned off all the lights and tried to remain "calm."</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Did it work?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Actually, kind of. Here are the notes I wrote in a journal on my subway ride back into Manhattan:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">-Definitely relaxed after (well I'd hope so it was the end of my work day).</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">-Senses feel a little heightened; like street noises, the slight breeze in the air.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">-Similar to the relaxing feeling you get when you get a massage, except you don't have anyone touching you and making your aches feel better so your mind is less distracted.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">-Had no concept of where I was in the tank, at times an arm brushed against the side wall and I had no idea my position was shifting at all.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">-When I opened my eyes in the dark I did "see" a few white lights, green lights, small like the end of long search light that would go in an out...a few images that looked like black puffs of smoke against the darkness.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">-Didn't experience any "deep or emotional" memories. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">-I may have fallen asleep.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">- I tried not to twitch even though I could feel a drip of water slowly entering my ear.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">-I kept swallowing for some strange reason and the rumblings coming from my stomach were a bit distracting.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">-Legs were definitely wobbly after, I had to hold on to the pole when I got up and out the little door to the main suite room where you rinse off.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">-Salt in the ears for days!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I couldn't print this in my piece, but my friend who tried floating had the best line for it--</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">"It felt like an unattended baptism." </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Click <a href="http://www.foxnews.com/health/2016/04/14/how-floating-naked-may-offer-relief-from-pain-stress.html" target="_blank">here</a> if you want to watch my video and learn more about it. </span><br />

Padma Lakshmi, the beautiful host of Bravo’s "Top Chef" and mother of 3-year-old daughter Krishna, says Mother’s Day brunch is a great time to get all of your family together to share good food and family memories.</div>

Lakshmi reminisced back to her first mother’s day when she gathered around her closest friends and family for lunch. After years of struggling with endometriosis, a painful uterine condition, Lakshmi’s pregnancy was called a ‘medical miracle’.</div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“I had such different circumstances around the birth of my daughter. On my first Mother’s Day I honored my cousin. I bought him a present and got up during lunch and said I want to thank you,” Lakshmi said.</div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Lakshmi says she couldn’t have made it through it all without her family’s help.</div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“I think it’s really important to remember that we are parented by a lot of people in our lives. From my cousin taking me to my sonogram appointments to my mother coming to live with me while I was bed ridden, they were all there for me when I needed them most,” she said.</div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
When your family table speaks for more than one generation it can be tough to find something for everyone but Lakshmi, the author of two cookbooks, says putting together a healthy menu for everyone at your table can be done.</div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“I don’t believe in being a short order cook, we all eat the same thing in this house,” Lakshmi said.</div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Yet Lakshmi does suggest that if you know a guest has special dietary restrictions, like avoiding meat or heavy salted foods, then you should try to offer alternatives.</div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“Whenever I’m hosting I try to remember who I’ve invited and what their preferences are,” Lakshmi said. “You may want to under salt things if someone has salt limitations as you can always put salt on the table for those who want to add more.”</div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Most of Lakshmi’s family is vegetarian (which she is openly not) but being the gracious host that she is, Lakshmi likes to please the ones she loves.</div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“At first it was hard to collate that meal, but I’ll make sides that cater to everyone and have a main meat dish along with a vegetarian option as well.” Lakshmi said. “You could easily do a white bean dish or a black eyed peas dish with a little pumpkin or zucchini, something that feels hearty. It’s also really easy to do a lentil salad with chopped bell peppers and apples with a light lemon juice and oil dressing, it feels cool and refreshing.”</div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
You won’t find this celebrity chef in line for a brunch drizzled with sweet sugary syrups and crispy fried fat-traps.</div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“I personally don’t like waffles and sugary things for breakfast. Why not do a yogurt parfait with beautiful cut fruit and yogurt. You can sprinkle in some raw sugar with a dash of cinnamon for a little extra touch of sweetness.”</div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
If your mom enjoys something more on the sweeter side then try to keep it lighter.</div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“If you love pancakes I would opt for the crepe, it’s much thinner and then you can fill it with some stewed fruit or baked apples. And rather than adding whip cream to it you can add a dollop of vanilla yogurt instead,” Lakshmi added.</div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<b style="border: 0px none; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Remember It’s Your Party Too</b></div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<b style="border: 0px none; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;"><br /></b></div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Although hosting a Mother’s day brunch might seem like a culinary challenge only for the pros, Lakshmi says to remember that the idea is to enjoy the time with your loved ones. If your guests feel like you’re stressed, it will stress them out too.</div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“You don’t want your guests to arrive and you’re all frazzled, so select a menu that 75 percent of it can be made ahead of time,” Lakshmi said. “You could do a simple roast chicken and a lentil stew the night before so that all you’re doing is warming them up the next day before your guests arrive.”</div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
One of Lakshmi’s favorite stress-free dishes to make is a Spanish tortilla. </div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
She says the inexpensive meal is easy to make with just a few ingredients; eggs, sautéed onions and potatoes. Best of all, it can be served at room temperature so you don’t have to worry about reheating it or serving it as soon as it comes off of the skillet.</div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px none; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“It’s a holiday like Thanksgiving, you don’t look at your email, you don’t answer your cell, it’s about stopping what you’re doing to spend time with your family. Mother’s day to me is like a Thanksgiving of spring.”</div>

If you’re getting ready to take part in all the boozy festivities for St. Patrick’s Day you may want to consider having one more special refreshment on tap this year. Forget the old hair of the dog hangover cure. Today there are a host of drinks and concoctions that manufactures say will give you a little luck of the Irish by helping you ease your aching head and churning stomach. To help you celebrate and curb your hangover fears, we put together our top picks for preventative hangover drinks.<br />
<br />
<br />
Directed to take as your last drink of the night, the citrus-flavored beverage combines nutrients, vitamins (like B1 and C) and amino acids that together produce one of your body’s most powerful antioxidant, glutathione. Glutathione is like your inner body superhero, it fights off the evil toxin acetaldehyde that forms in your body when you drink. “Mercy preps the body for battle against acetaldehyde, allowing you to wake up feeling refreshed and healthy,” Dr. Steven Lamm, a NYU School of Medicine faculty member who supports the product told FoxNews.com. The 65-calorie beverage should be taken for every 3-5 cocktails you consume.<br />
Price: $12.50/4-pack<br />
<br />
<br />
This nutritional shot by Juice Generation is filled with 100 percent Prickly Pear extract. According to a Tulane Health Sciences Center study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, an extract of prickly pear cactus can decrease hangover symptoms by reducing inflammation in the body. The study found that when taken hours before drinking, the extract can alleviate symptoms like dry mouth and nausea. “Prickly pear has long been used to reduce inflammation, it fights inflammation because it is loaded with micronutrients such as calcium, iron, potassium, selenium in the skin, zinc in the seeds, and carotenoids in the pulp,” licensed certified nutritionist Maria Calton told FoxNews.com. “The physiological misery from a hangover can absolutely be minimized. It’s all about removing the inflammation, detoxifying the body and replenishing your micronutrients,” Calton said.<br />
Price: $3.95/ 1oz shot.<br />
<br />
<br />
Although it might look like just another sports drink, 989 is an enhanced vitamin beverage that promises to leave any dehydrated and hung-over patron with a healthy dose of nutrients. The 100 percent natural and calorie-free drink helps replenish your body with 9 vitamins, 84 ionic minerals and 5 electrolytes. To ensure that all of its vitamins and active ingredients stay fresh and unaffected by environmental elements like air and light, 989 stores its ingredients inside the bottles air-sealed cap. When your hangover starts to kick in you simply twist open the cap to release the feel-better vitamins into the water below.<br />
Price: $1.99-$2.49/20oz bottle<br />
<br />
<br />
When Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, the King of late-night parties, endorses a drink that helps him recover after a night of party-hopping and globetrotting, you know it must work. He and actor/producer Mark Wahlberg recently lent their names to this and other sports nutrition products. At the AQUAhydrate press conference Diddy announced, “I was at a party last night till 4am, and look how fresh and hydrated I am today.” Makers of this performance water beverage say it is all about the enhanced electrolytes and a high pH (+9). While the electrolytes work to rehydrate your body the Ph (+9) helps combat acidic waste to bring your body back to balance.<br />
Price: $1.99/ 1L Bottle.<br />
<br />
<br />
Although these beverages seem like miracle solutions to hangovers, not all health experts are convinced. “Some might help you recover a bit faster—but people who are convinced that they do wonders are probably falling prey to a pretty hefty placebo response. In other words, they could get just as much relief from drinking Gatorade,” Monica Reinagel, Licensed Nutritionist and the <span style="color: black;">Nutrition Diva for Quick and Dirty Tips</span> told FoxNews.com<br />
<br />
<br />
Dr. Michael Oshinsky, a hangover headache researcher at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia says the only true hangover cure is… not to drink too much, but, if you do, “It would be sufficient for people to treat their hangover by hydrating the body, taking a drug like Advil the night before and then in the morning have a cup of coffee and eat something,” Oshinsky said.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8Oi_r-jHJBx-dJ_MmmM5X_wlsWANQlPh4x7MM4Lv5mG_Lc_9hBjAu7qbtPR52VtDYkmErPFtQt4iapdkXBhUMN-aGus0xxSsqpSjxPcdR4dyyG5B-KlV5n-s-zTRZM6XOMadZQ9aL36k/s1600/st+pattys.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a> </div>
Whichever method you use for easing the unpleasant aftermath of a night of heavy drinking, in the words of the Irish, “May your glass be ever full”.<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC6jqxHJWwCI_w53Z7HYfPw41LRLjmsVynSW2MbFT_qba9e-4lXLPvE_Fh5Mw5FcAWjEbb1ibKFKfUBbsjAFfBaQThum6glnnOJIy7GI6lguGUKFEukFwmJcNLaGqTr8-kv0z6elq-gCE/s1600/nails.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="185" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgC6jqxHJWwCI_w53Z7HYfPw41LRLjmsVynSW2MbFT_qba9e-4lXLPvE_Fh5Mw5FcAWjEbb1ibKFKfUBbsjAFfBaQThum6glnnOJIy7GI6lguGUKFEukFwmJcNLaGqTr8-kv0z6elq-gCE/s320/nails.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
Although I have never tried the popular 'gel manicure' ( because I'm too cheap) that claim to be chip-free and last up to 2 weeks.. I do have friends that rave about them and their longevity.</span><br /><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />However-- a new warning from doctors say the flawless manicure can actually increase your risk of skin cancer. That's right, SKIN CANCER!<br /><br />The UV light used to dry the gel is said to cause some risky damage to skin cells. <br /><br />The doctor behind the warning, Dr. Chris Adigun of the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology, New York University School of Medicine, says "Women who frequently get gel manicures should consider their skin cancer risk because the UV light needed to cure the gel manicure is a risk factor."<br /><br />The warning may seem a little far-fetched to you but two women who had no history of skin cancer developed tumors on their hands from the UV nail lights (according to research in JAMA Dermatology in 2009).</span><div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So what's a Nailista to do? Slap some sunscreen on your hands before going under the nail lamp!</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Or, as I do, go back to good ol' regular nail polish that dries under a LED lap (which doesn't pose any health or cancer threats).</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I'm the first one to admit I am a tad bit OCD when it comes to my nails and keeping them neat and tidy but with all the scary cancers going around these days what's one more preventive measure? </span></div>

Anyone looking to shed some extra fat but still wants t0 enjoy their favorite deep-fried treats will love this gift. The low-fat fryer uses just a tablespoon of oil for a fresh serving of French fries. <b>Eataly’s Antipasti platter: </b>Quality authentic Italian delicacies are hard to come by, but thanks to New York’s popular Italian market Eataly, you can find and purchase them online. Any true Italian food-lover will enjoy one of Eataly’s newly-introduced gift baskets that are filled with everything from a bruschetta tomato herb spread to a mushrooms and truffle sauce. “Eatly is renowned for its Italian indulgences and this platter brings it home. Whether they’re having friends over, or are having a quiet night in with the family, any Italian foodie will savor every last bite,” Dana Holmes, editor-in-chief of Gifts.com told FoxNews.com. <i>$69.80 Available at <a href="http://www.eataly.com/" style="color: #183a52; cursor: pointer; outline: none 0px; text-decoration: initial;">http://www.eataly.com/</a>.</i></div>

<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;">
<b>Wines that Rock:</b> If you’re looking for a gift for your best wino and don’t want to pick up the typical set of wine glasses or coasters, consider the gift of a rocking bottle of wine.</div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;">
Wines That Rock combine some of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time with great tasting wines. Winemaker Mark Beaman crafted custom wines inspired by legendary artists like The Police, The Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones. Not only do the wines capture the essence of each album in its taste (Mark said it made sense to make Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon album into a Cabernet Sauvignon because it “needed to be a wine that was haunting”), but the unique wine labels also add a special flare to this gift. Each bottle sports classic album art on its front label. A Rolling Stones fan? Pick up the Rolling Stones’s Forty Licks Merlot that showcases their iconic lips and tongue logo.</div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;">
“Wines That Rock was a pleasant surprise to try. Not only do they make a unique gift for music fans – who’s not going to love a Pink Floyd wine label, after all – but they’re a collection that even the most serious of oenophiles will love. The red blends went down smoothly, and even seemed to fit the songs,” Marcy Franklin, Drink Editor at TheDailyMeal.com told FoxNews.com.<i>$14.99/bottle Available at Wine.com, WinesThatRock.com, Amazon.com and your local wine & liquor store.</i></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;">
<b>Verseur: </b>If you’re buying for the more practical wine drinker, try wrapping up a Verseur. A multi-tasking gadget that combines a corkscrew, foil cutter, pour spout and bottle stopper, it’s the ultimate Swiss army knife for wine drinkers. The full service wine tool is made of stainless steel, with a black rubber pourer and cap to save all your favorite wines.<i> $24.99 Available at Quirky.com & Target.</i></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;">
<b>Corkcicle:</b> A great addition to any wine-lover’s closet must be the Corkcicle. This simple yet genius invention will always keep your wine at the perfect and preferred temperature. Once you freeze the ice cube-like device, it slides right into any full size bottle of wine, chilling your vino without watering it down. A corkcicle will make a wonderful gift for a party host or anyone who likes to sip and linger over a nice bottle of wine.</div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;">
“This is a fantastic product and is much more inventive than putting your wine in a wine chiller. I’d love one of these for myself at home!” Louis Fugazy, owner of The Madelyn in NYC told FoxNews.com. <i>$24.95 Available at <a href="http://www.fab.com/" style="color: #183a52; cursor: pointer; outline: none 0px; text-decoration: initial;">www.fab.com</a></i></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;">
<b>The Talking Measuring Cup: </b>When it comes to precise measurements of dry and wet ingredients, even professional chefs could use a little help in the kitchen. The talking measuring cup verbally announces the volume of your ingredients, doing away with the old household method of ‘eyeballing’ the amounts. It holds up to three-cups of ingredients and is made of unbreakable frosted plastic that is microwave and dishwasher safe.</div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;">
“I love the talking measuring cup because very few people know there is a difference between dry and wet measuring cups, which often affects the outcome of a recipe,” Anne Dolce, cook editor at TheDailyMeal.com said. “This cup does away with the problem of using a wet measuring cup for dry ingredients and vice versa because not only does it tell you exactly how much has been measured, but it lets you choose the density of what you’re measuring as well,” Dolce told FoxNews.com. <i>$59.95 Available at </i><a href="http://www.hammacher.com/" style="color: #183a52; cursor: pointer; outline: none 0px; text-decoration: initial;"><i>www.Hammacher.com</i></a><i>.</i></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; padding: 0px;">
<b>Cool Culinaria Prints: </b>Anyone who loves original art and images from the good old days of the 40’s and 50’s will enjoy a Cool Culinaria print for their home. Some of the most famous landmark restaurant and diner menus were reimaged into charming posters and prints. These rare reprints will be a creative and thoughtful gift for your loved ones, you can pick a hot-spot from one of their favorite cities like the best-selling print of The J.H Ireland in Chicago or even a vintage cocktail menu for their bar area. <i>$28.00- $45.00 (prices vary per print) Available at <a href="http://coolculinaria.com/" style="color: #183a52; cursor: pointer; outline: none 0px; text-decoration: initial;">CoolCulinaria.com</a>.</i></div>

Traveling during the holidays can be a stressful endeavor. Whether you're shacked up with relatives or settled in at a hotel, staying in an unfamiliar room never feels quite as comfortable as your own home does.</div>

For years hotels have gone through the ringer trying to please and accommodate guests. Maids will fold your toilet paper corners while front desk agents turn into your personal alarm clock. What else could you possibly ask for? What about a room upgrade? How about some free movie rentals and mini bar beverages? Wouldn’t an early check-in with a complimentary cotton robe be nice?</div>

But's let not ask what a hotel staffer can do you for, rather what you can for them to avoid getting a gift you didn't ask for. </div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">
If you ever wondered how to get some of these extra hotel perks, you may want to pick up Jacob Tomsky’s new book this holiday season. Heads in Beds: A Reckless Memoir of Hotels, Hustles, and So-Called Hospitality (Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group) takes a candid look into the world of hotels, offering insightful and yet unexpected advice on how to get the most out of your hotel stay.</div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">
Tomsky, a 10-year hotel veteran quickly climbed the hotel ranks holding name tags as a valet, a housekeeping supervisor and a front desk agent. In his book he gifts his readers with some valuable tricks of the trade he learned along the way. </div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">
Like many things in life, money talks, and in the hotel world, tips can make or break your stay. If you want the chance to get the well sought after room upgrade Tomsky says slipping the front desk agent a bill when checking in could do the trick. Simply wrap a bill ($20 or $50) around the credit card you’re going to use and hand to the agent when your checking in. Tomsky says there’s no reason to be nervous, “it‘s not a drug deal and no agent will pocket the money and just say thank you. Asking for an upgrade might guarantee you’re not going to get one but I gave some lady at the front desk $20 and she really took care of me, gave me a corner suite, it was great,” Tomsky told FoxNews.com.</div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">
Other Tomsky “tips” to enhance your stay:</div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">
<b>The Valet:</b> Give $1-2 dollars for each time they pull around or park your car. It‘s always better not to stiff that valet before they skid off with your vehicle, plus giving them a few bucks beforehand might keep you in their mind before they skid away with your ride. “Before handing over your keys it’s also a good idea to walk around your car to note any pre-existing marks or scratches,” Tomsky said.</div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">
<b>The Bellman:</b> It’s standard to give about $2 per bag that he/she is bringing up to your room. You can always turn down their help but you can get some pretty good information from the bellman. “They’re often born and raised in the city or town you’re staying in and can give you some really great advice on what local restaurants and places to check out,” Tomsky told FoxNews.com. “Plus the bellmen know what all the rooms in the hotel are like so if you get to your room and you’re not overly excited about it they’re right there to tell you about the better rooms to ask for.”</div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">
<b>The Maid:</b> Nothing less than $5, but you can give $10-20 upfront if you’re staying for a few days. “If you happen to see a maid with her cart in the hallway stop and see if you can grab some extra shampoo or lotion, slip them a few dollars and ask if they can send up whatever else they can. Depending on the level of the hotel, they’ll have closets stocked with amenities to take advantage of; slippers, shoe horns, lint rollers and all sorts of travel sized items,” Tomsky said.</div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">
<b>The Concierge:</b> For something like directions around $2-3 will suffice, but if their getting you reservations at a popular restaurant you should give about $10-20. Even in the era of the Internet and smart phones, concierges still have firsthand experience with the best places in town. “You can try calling for a table yourself, but they’re the ones that will have good connections and real pull to get you that reservation,” Tomsky told FoxNews.com.</div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">
<b>Extra Freebies: </b>Tomsky says the overstocked and overpriced mini bar charges are the most disputed on any bill. Although it’s hard to believe in a world where most mini bars have become censored, he insists that all you have to do is tell the front desk you ‘never touched the minibar’ and they will wipe away the charges. “It would be a weird desk agent to say ‘you sure you didn’t have these?’ That’s a terrible stance to take,” Tomsky said.</div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">
Apparently free movie rentals are also easy to score. “Once you’ve finished watching your movie just call down to the front desk and tell them the movie just froze in the middle or it turned off suddenly,” Tomsky told FoxNews.com. “Usually there is a subscription fee that they pay for the hotel as a total so they’re not losing any money.”</div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">
Lastly, the luxurious and cozy bathroom robes. Of course they sell them for an outrageous amount in the hotel gift shop but Tomsky says you can take one home for free. “They’re supposed to have robes preset in each room but you can call up and tell them your room is missing a robe. In the time it takes someone to come up and deliver you another one, you can stash the extra robe right into your suitcase.” Tomsky told FoxNews.com.</div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> 38% of their Sugar Daddy customers claim to have more than 7 partners per year, with the biggest 'casual' cities such as Chicago, Birmingham and Las Vegas topping the list.</span><div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />Surprisingly enough New York city didn't even make the list! Only 15% of New York men claim to have more than 7 sexual partners a year. <br /><br />Almost more shocking ( only because its soon to be my new zip code) is how the town of Hoboken, NJ came in #8 on the list with 57% of wealthy men having 7 or more sexual partners annually. I guess its not entirely out of the norm since it was the town that Jersey Shore's Snooky and JWow wanted to tape their spin-off in (even though they were denied by the town and basically banned). The town could also get some spiked #'s by its endearing reputation of being 'HobokaSquan'... aka a mesh of all the young and mostly single Hoboken residents that venture down the Jersey parkway to slum and sleep it up in Manasquan NJ for the summer. <br /><br /><br />A couple side notes for the rest of the Top 10... <br /><br /><b>Cities With The Most Promiscuous Men in America</b><br /> <br /> 1. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Whether you are a born New Yorker or an after college renter, most people who live in New York City share some kind of common love for the fast-paced metropolitan.<br /><br />When outsiders accuse us of being rude or mean we fight back and exclaim "if you don't know how to walk then get out of the way!"...<br /><br /> Since I can remember I have always wanted to live in NYC, as a young girl from a small suburb town in Connecticut it was where I HAD to live. And now after 6 years I'm leaving my digs on the UES. <br /><br />I came upon a Forbes.com article titled "50 important lessons NYC taught Me" (<a href="http://www.forbes.com/sites/brettnelson/2012/09/10/fifty-important-lessons-new-york-city-taught-me/">http://www.forbes.com/sites/brettnelson/2012/09/10/fifty-important-lessons-new-york-city-taught-me/</a> ) ... Some of them I agree with wholeheartedly but I figured I would give you 5 of my own lessons I've learned over the years here... <br /><br /><br />1- <b>Manage your Money Wisely</b>.. don't get stuck in a NYC apartment you can hardly afford. Cheap rent is Key; paying more for a place in a 'more trendy' location that you'll never spend enough time in is a waste of money - besides why would you stay in when you have the whole city with things to do and places that are open 24-7 right outside your door?<br /><br /><br />2- <b>Don't Worry about What you Look like All-the-Time</b>: In a city with millions of people your chances of running into last weeks date or your office crush are slim, so roll out of bed with your pj's still on and walk over to your favorite bagel place. If you need to stop at Duane Read after a gym session so be it, you think those cashiers care what you look like? Just make sure you look presentable for work and social outings. <br /><br /><br />3- <b>Don't slow down for Anyone</b>: This doesn't mean knock over the poor old lady walking down the street, but life comes at you fast so come at it even faster! Taking a stroll or walking at a turtle pace is overrated. The early Bird catches the worm but if the 2nd worm can crawl faster my money is on him. Don't wait for opportunities to come to you, everyone in the city is competitive, money-hungry and success-driven, so do it first and do it faster. <br /><br /><br />4- <b>Learn to get along and be Nice</b>..To Everyone; No one said you have to like everyone, but getting along and being nice to people around you will pay off in end. Being nice to the coffee stand guy will ensure your coffee comes out the way you like it every morning (minor, but no New Yorker wants to start his/her day off with bad or burnt coffee).. Say thank you to your office mail man ( maybe your magazine subscriptions will start turning up again and your personal mail will get sent out on time). The city is filled with every type of personality so don't think you can roam the streets with your clique in tow like you did in college or High School.Your best friend's lease may not end at the same time yours does so get ready to audition some unexpected roommate candidates. <br /><br /><br />5- <b>Be Safe not paranoid;</b> NYC is an amazing place but it can also be scary. You can get mugged walking through a car garage at night in Alabama just as much as you can get mugged in day-light on the UES... It doesn't hurt to carry mace around with you just like it doesn't hurt to make a rule not to travel the subways alone past 11pm. Crime and scummy criminals are everywhere these days and NYC will prepare and train you to be more cautious and aware of your surroundings. <br /><br /><br />Those are my 5 Lessons for now, What has NYC taught you?</span>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16430555561085026445noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6508991216173904770.post-9284648735217047192012-08-10T12:58:00.000-04:002012-08-10T12:58:14.789-04:00Need New Ideas for Lunch.. Food trucks have been capitalizing on the everyday busy (and hungry) lunchgoer for years. These restaurants on wheels serve up everything from thick homemade waffles to sizzling and savory tacos, satisfying even the pickiest of grab-and-go foodies. </div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
Nationwide food truck revenue is up 15 percent over the past five years and took in about 37 percent of the $1.4 billion revenue in street vending last year alone, according to research done by IBISWorld Inc.</div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
“Consumers have responded in a tremendous way, waiting hours in line to sample the goods from trucks around the country- this trend offers accessible, inexpensive and diverse food choices,” Tyler Florence, celebrity chef and host of Food Network’s "The Great Food Truck Race"<i> </i>told FoxNews.com.</div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
Though it may seem like the ever-evolving food truck industry has cooked up everyone’s favorite feasts, one pair of Brooklyn Brothers are bringing a hot new cuisine to New York City taste buds.</div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
Driving onto the food truck scene two months ago Nick Russo and his brother-in-law Mike Zelman opened up <a href="http://hibachiheaven.com/" rel="external ext-linked" style="color: #183a52; cursor: pointer; outline: none 0px; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Hibachi Heaven</a><img src="http://global.fncstatic.com/static/v/all/img/external-link.png" style="border: 0px none; max-width: 480px;" />, the first-ever mobile hibachi truck in New York City.</div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
Since these tough-looking guys from New York don’t have any Japanese roots in their blood, Russo credits his 9-year old niece for giving them the hibachi idea.</div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
“We’ve always been interested in food trucks and it just so happened my niece came back from a birthday party at a hibachi restaurant and said how about hibachi,” Nick told FoxNews.com. “That’s how we got into hibachi, you know she came home one day, gave us the idea and we rolled with it.”</div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
On one giant hibachi grill that practically covers the length of the truck, Russo’s chef, Izac Kao (a former <a href="http://www.benihana.com/" rel="external ext-linked" style="color: #183a52; cursor: pointer; outline: none 0px; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Benihana</a><img src="http://global.fncstatic.com/static/v/all/img/external-link.png" style="border: 0px none; max-width: 480px;" />’s chef) cooks up a hearty dish of meats, veggies and rice. Their menu offers an array of proteins like beef, chicken, shrimp and tofu along with fresh vegetables and your choice of brown or fried rice topped with delicious homemade sauces (heavenly ginger, yum yum and wasabi mayo). Nick boasts that it’s his signature ‘yum yum sauce” (a mix of mayo, Cajun spices and garlic) that has really made a name for them with finicky New Yorkers. </div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
“That’s all we hear ‘we want that yum yum sauce,’ people can’t seem to get enough of it. Maybe we’ll bottle it up someday and call it heavenly yum yum,” Russo told FoxNews.com.</div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
Unlike most hibachi restaurants, you won’t find Russo and his crew juggling knifes or building volcanoes out of onion rings, “unless we had some sake in the truck to squirt customers in the mouth with, we just don’t have enough time for tricks," he said.</div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
Although Russo insists there is no room or time for tricks on his truck, some food experts say it doesn’t hurt to have a little showboating. </div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
“It’s ok to have a shtick, it can help, but don’t <i>just</i> have a shtick. Make some good food. The best way for a new food truck to distinguish itself from its peers is to just make some really good food,” Arthur Bovino, executive director, The Daily Meal told FoxNews.com.</div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>

But despite the trick-less truck, Hibachi Heaven is souped-up with four huge speakers blasting popular dance beats for their patient patrons. “The customers love it. I’ve had people walk by and just start to dance right in the middle of the street. It makes it a more fun and exciting atmosphere for people to come and wait for their food in,” Nick said.</div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
Of course it’s not all fun and games, Hibachi Heaven dishes out about 200 lunches in three hours and many food truck veterans stress that the hard work comes with the territory. Everyday, five days a week, the truck moves to a different location in the City, from downtown, to Wall Street, to midtown. Days for the team start before sunrise and don't end until the last lunch is dished out. </div>

“This industry is for people who are passionate about what they do. It’s really hard work, you have to constantly be on the up and up finding new locations and catering contacts,” Daniel Shemtob, owner of The Lime Truck and winner of Food Network’s 2011 "The Great Food Truck Race"<i> </i>told FoxNews.com.</div>

“Having amazing, fresh and locally sourced food is the most important thing. If your food is good, they will come and eat,” Matt Chernus, co-owner of the successful Grill 'Em All food truck in Los Angeles said.</div>
<div style="padding: 0px;">
Like opening up a hip new restaurant, once the hype fades it’s the quality of good food that keeps any kind of kitchen (on wheels or not) open for business.</div>

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I'll be the first one to admit, I am a not a great driver. However, when it comes to "road rage" I would consider myself to be on the calmer side of the spectrum, but are all women as tranquil?<br /><br />A new study by CareerBuilder.com finds that road rage is worse in women than in men. Out of the 3,892 people they surveyed, 61% of women said they've experienced road rage versus 56% of men.... first of all that survey should read " More women admit to road rage than men". Sure I may be prone to use my horn a lot -but lets face it that's what its there for! <br /><br />In my experience men are 1- more aggressive at the wheel and 2- aren't afraid of speeding up to fling some other driver the bird or scream obscenities from their window. All men think they are good drivers. I can openly admit I'm not a good driver but you'll never hear a guy confess the same.<br /><br />The study also goes on to say that younger adults are also road rage culprits, reporting that 68% of adults age 25-34 admit having road rage versus 47% of those over 55.<br /><br />An easy explanation of this would be that all the younger drivers are yelling at all the older drivers to be more careful behind the wheel... You've all experienced it before. You get caught off by some driver who instantly slows down once they clear into the next lane.. your pissed off so you drive up to see who the annoying delinquent is only to catch a glimpse of an elderly couple in the front seat and behind the driving wheel. They don't have any 'Silver Alerts' for young drivers now do they?<br /><br /><br />The full study here</span><span style="background-color: white;">: </span><a href="http://www.careerbuilder.com/share/aboutus/pressreleasesdetail.aspx?sd=7/18/2012&id=pr708&ed=12/31/2012" style="background-color: white;">http://www.careerbuilder.com/share/aboutus/pressreleasesdetail.aspx?sd=7/18/2012&id=pr708&ed=12/31/2012</a><br />

<br />The New York Times ran an interesting and in my opinion disturbing piece the other day on how girls today are rushing for college sororities. I rushed and spent some time pledging a sorority in college and it is baffling what girls are supposedly doing nowadays to get into the sorority of their choice. <br /><br />So what are these desperate young college girls dumbing down to now? They ( and their stepford mothers) are PAYING people to "coach" them on how to be the perfect sorority candidate. <br /><br />According to the Times, students and their parents are dishing out up to $8,000 for a weekend of services that include resume building, fashion and wardrobe guidance and lessons on how to make good small talk.<br /><br />Now unless all of these participants have been home schooled their whole lives and have never turned on a TV or looked through a magazine or something along those lines, how the hell does any intelligent woman (I'm assuming intelligent because they did get into college) NOT know how to make small talk? What's even worse is the advice this so-called "image consultant" is giving out. <br /><br />“I teach them how to make interesting small talk: what you saw at the cinema, a trip to Europe. I don’t know too many 20-year-olds who are having a debate about economics,” Ms. von Sperling told the Times. <br /><br />Of course, why act like you are intelligent when you can chit-chat about the latest Katty Perry movie and the expensive trips your parents fronted for you.<br /><br />Another prep-school for rushes, <a href="http://mariettestudios.wordpress.com/services/sorority-rush-consulting/">Mariette Studios</a> claims that " Sorority members also have higher GPAs than a typical college woman, and have higher retention rates as well."<br /><br />Though after looking through the <a href="http://www.nphchq.org/contact.htm">National Pan-Hellenic Council</a> website I couldn't find one statistic on how good sorority sisters' GPA's are... hmm I wonder why.. In my own experience I can truthfully say that many girls who rushed and then pledged were barely passing their classes because of all of the ridiculous pledge events and late-night hazing sessions. Then once you are in, you're constantly juggling a jammed class schedule with social events you "have" to go to. Though if you are one of the lucky ones its been said that many and I mean many houses have a long stack of old exams and tests for their freshmen class to cheat off of.<br /><br />One last point I have to mention from the Times piece was their comment that, "Many aspiring sisters spend their summer working out and dieting." One rush told them, "Rushing shakes your confidence level, you are being judged on how you look.”<br /><br />There was an on-going rumor at my college that one particular sorority would make their pledges stand on chairs in their bra and underwear while they circled their fat with sharpies- what a close and caring sisterhood right?<br /><br /><div>
Believe me, I'm not some crazy Greek-hater here to bash those who want to join. Like I said, I too rushed and pledged ( well, half-pledged- I depledged after a few weeks for personal reasons), It only drives me crazy-mad that these old bats in the south are ripping off innocent and eager young women in their sketchy schemes that flood freshmen minds with thoughts on how they think you should talk, dress and act. Doesn't society cram enough perfect model-esque images into their heads already?<br /><br />The full NY Times article here: <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/22/education/edlife/prepping-students-for-sorority-rush.html?pagewanted=all">http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/22/education/edlife/prepping-students-for-sorority-rush.html?pagewanted=all</a></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16430555561085026445noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6508991216173904770.post-13660739461826971402012-07-16T15:51:00.002-04:002012-07-16T15:51:33.204-04:00Make You Laugh.. or at Least Smile Video of the Day<div style="text-align: center;">

<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Guys are never easy to read, so if you have a burning question you've been dying to ask but are too afraid to, what do you do? </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">In continuing with the relationship title topic.. I asked a group of guys to explain what a girl should and should not say when you broach the question of your relationship status. </span><br />
<br />
<br />
<b><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">If you HAD to have
the conversation with a girl you DID like and DIDN’T want to lose, What is the
best way she could bring up the “what are we/ title conversation”?</span></b><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><u>ANSWER:</u> <span style="background-color: white;">I
think people stray away from honesty too often and try to hide stuff. Guys and
girls both. If you’re that serious about someone you shouldn’t be afraid to be
upfront with what you're doing/thinking.</span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white;"><u>ANSWER</u><b>:</b> </span><span style="background-color: white;">No
reason for convo, the girl will know when she hits gf status.</span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white;"><u>ANSWER</u>: </span><span style="background-color: white;">Trick question there is no Best way. But IF it HAD to
be done, don't do it in front of the guys friends or family. You will get a
half-ass answer, awkward silence from those in the audience, a pissed off guy
when you are finally alone, and a delayed engagement ring.</span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><u>ANSWER</u>: If you are really into a girl and she is really
into you, you normally don’t have to have that discussion its just known and felt.
It will come up casually.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><u>ANSWER</u>: <span style="background-color: white;">She should just
straight out ask. If I liked her enough to not want to lose her, I'd
rather she just be honest instead of playing games. </span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We already know guys don't like talking about their feelings, but why is it that once your dating your never really sure if your his girlfriend or not? You'd hate to be "that girl" and ask the big ugly question " what are we".. but if you don't and surely they won't how will you ever know?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Girls have battled with this problem since the 60's when asking to go steady was like asking someone to prom. So to shed some much needed light into the cluttered and complicated minds of men, I consulted with a group of guys from all walks of life. Some are single and some are not, some are happily single and some are not, some are happily committed and some are not...a well-rounded array of perspectives.. only the best for my reader.</span><br />

Cranberries DO Help Urinary Tract Infections<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifEu9Y2TAz0WJLZiFfYe6hkTl3MCt9uBErRao6FyzB1SEO2IOTobVqjxnLvDoXhJq3AlxLymzAp_Nzc5rjSWS8fYT4wG7iQ9XJ7xs2W6_InetvgQBmgAx2auzRClASIe_vJwCxPn5ez3A/s1600/ho_cran_cocktails_188.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifEu9Y2TAz0WJLZiFfYe6hkTl3MCt9uBErRao6FyzB1SEO2IOTobVqjxnLvDoXhJq3AlxLymzAp_Nzc5rjSWS8fYT4wG7iQ9XJ7xs2W6_InetvgQBmgAx2auzRClASIe_vJwCxPn5ez3A/s1600/ho_cran_cocktails_188.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="background-color: white;"> News Alert! </span><br />
<br />
Sure you might have always heard the old wive's tale that if you were ever to get a UTI all you need to do is drink a bunch of cranberry juice to cure it.. Guess all those crazy wives were right. because now there is concrete evidence to back it up their theory!<br />
<br />
Recent research reveals that certain compounds in cranberries might actually prevent bacteria from attaching to tissue in the urinary tract .. aka it keeps the infections away!
<br />
<br />
Although doctors aren't positive on exactly what form is best to use ( in juice form or capsule) either type can still help.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="border: medium none; overflow: hidden; text-align: left;">
"Finally,
the science is catching up to what our mothers have been telling us for so many
decades," <span style="background-color: white;">Dr.
Deborah Wing, who has studied urinary tract infections at the University of
California, Irvine said.</span><br />
<div style="border: medium none; overflow: hidden;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: medium none; overflow: hidden;">
Bonus for the cranberry method versus antibiotics? </div>
<div style="border: medium none; overflow: hidden;">
1-Drinking or taking cranberry tablets for long periods of time won't stop working when your body's bacteria builds up resistance to it like it does for drugs used to treat infections.</div>
<div style="border: medium none; overflow: hidden;">
2- It's cheaper than most ( if not all) antibiotics you might get from your doctor plus you don't need a prescription to buy a jug of juice at the store.</div>
<div style="border: medium none; overflow: hidden;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: medium none; overflow: hidden;">
More on the study here: <a href="http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/07/120709162707.htm" style="background-color: white;">http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/07/120709162707.htm</a><span style="background-color: white;"></span></div>
<div style="border: medium none; overflow: hidden;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: medium none; overflow: hidden;">
And don't forget you don't have to use just cranberry juice to get the health benefits..Cranberry Vodka cocktails work just as good!</div>

Is Your Bike Ruining Your Sex Life?<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I always knew there was a reason why I hated spin class.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">A new study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine found that riding a bike can in fact affect how much female riders enjoy sex.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The culprit of this nasty news is the heinous handlebar! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The study found that setting your handlebar lower than the seat increases pressure and decreases sensation in the<span style="background-color: white;"> </span><span style="background-color: white;">genital</span><span style="background-color: white;"> area. - Ouch.</span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white;">The more pressure there is to a woman's genitals the more likely you are to get nerve damage down there-hence reducing your ability to feel any good vibrations </span><span style="background-color: white;">( in your female friend area).</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; text-align: left;">Researcher Marsha K. Guess said in a release about the study Monday, " </span><span style="background-color: white;">"</span><span style="background-color: white; text-align: left;">"Chronic insult to the genital nerves from increased saddle pressures could potentially result in sexual dysfunction."</span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So what do you do if you just bought a new class package at SoulCycle?!</span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Experts say all you need to do is make sure you re-position your handlebars higher so your sitting more upright which puts more pressure on your your sit bones instead of your ever-important genital tissues.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">And a word to those male readers out there- past research has also shown that cycling for men could cause erectile dysfunction- Cycle with Caution. </span><br />
